March 23, 2004 - Mr. Moncreaff teaches at Leominster High
On March 23, 2004, Mr. Moncreaff brought the history of Chinese martial arts to life for Leominster High School freshmen. Through his use of role-playing, demonstrations and storytelling, Mr. Moncreaff helped students discover the beauty and philosophy of martial arts. Under his guidance, the eager students learned salutes and basic techniques, tried their hand at entrance tests the original trainees underwent, and discovered the humble beginnings of what has now become a major industry. During his 2-hour visit, Mr. Moncreaff covered the Shaolin monks, the Warring Period and even the Communist Revolution. The students were enthralled as they listened to stories of dedication and loyalty, and they watched in awe as Mr. Moncreaff demonstrated several techniques. Cut off by the bell, the students left still talking about and imitating what they had seen and heard. One student excitedly offered a final bow to Mr. Moncreaff as he walked out the door. This is one visit the students will not soon forget.
